Vardus is the latest generation of the Wharfedale loudspeaker series, high speed, dynamic range, efficiency and bass response that sets them in a league of their own. The Vardus has been designed & engineered to perform superbly even with the most modest of amplification unit. The bass drivers are designed to give deep, yet controlled bass and this comes courtesy of our cone design, built to handle the heaviest of transits yet still retaining poise at extreme sound pressures. Light and durable these cones can start and stop in an instant. A new generation of quadruple wound voice coils maintains control and offer extremely high sensitivity using every ounce of power to create a sensational delivery. The vardus features a brand new high frequency tweeter, capable of scaling up to 24 KHz within 3db of mean these improvements in stereo image are pronounced and create extremely impressive soundstage and dispersion. Many loudspeakers are directional in nature, the listening position or “sweetspot” is very small and the slightest movements result in a change to the perceived sound, not with the vardus. The disperse nature of high frequency sounds give a very consistent image across a very wide sound field. This benefit is even more so when used as part of a AV multi- channel system. The Vardus offers serious sound pressure levels from even small amplifiers or systems and are capable of producing 90db at a distance of 1 meter for 1 watt of music power. Combine this with total tonal matching and you have the recipe for a highly competitive AV system. For 75 years Wharfedale has kept its policy of innovation and build quality which in 1933 it won first prize in Bradfords radio society, an award earning the company their first major order. From this point on Wharfedale has never looked back, going from strength to strength producing 9000 models per year till the outbreak of world war II. And today Wharfedale has kept that very same strict policy of manufacturing entirely in-house. To a standard that Gilbert Briggs would be proud of. Every component in every loudspeaker we make is designed, tooled, manufactured and quality controlled in our own premises, by our own staff. Not only does this have very significant cost implications but savings that are passed directly to our customers, which means that we’re not reliant on other companies efficiency, technology or quality.
