The Focusrite Blue 230 is a special version of the Red 3 dual compressor/limiter, optimised for broadcast applications. It features the same award-winning signal path as the Red 3, but with switched control of critical parameters for improved recall. Blue Range processors do not feature transformers, since all transformers introduce a slight colouration into the signal path, which is usually not desired in the mastering environment. However, this colouration is subtle and some mastering facilities value the warmth that transformers bring, without adding significant distortion. For this reason, the input and output transformers are offered as an optional modification on all Blue products.
